File Formats Accepted for Scholarship@SOU
Virtually any kind of file can be loaded into the archive. Whether or not someone would be able to view or use the file would be dependent on the software that resides on their own computer. This is why PDFs are our preferred file type. Here are some examples.
Acrobat Portable Document Format
.pdf
(preferred for all documents)
Text
.doc, .docx
(not all users may have Microsoft Office)
Spreadsheets
.xls, .xlsx
(not all users may have Microsoft Office)
Images
.tif, .gif, .jpg, .png
(minimum 300 ppi resolution, 600 ppi preferred)
Audio
.mp4, .mid, .wav, .wma, .mp3
(.mp3 preferred)
Video (captions required)
.mp4, .mpeg, .mov, .flv, .swf, .m4v, .wmv
(.mp4, h.264 encoded files preferred, captions required)
If your video contains copyrighted materials (images, sounds), there may be additional delay in posting to our repository.
